A webcam is required so your proctor can see your workstation. To troubleshoot a camera issue, please follow the instructions below.
Make sure that your Camera isn't being used by another App
If another app is using your Camera, ProctorU won't be able to access it. Other apps that may be using your camera are:
- Windows camera app
- Zoom
- Discord
- Skype
- Facetime
Make sure your camera is not being used by another program. If it is, close that program, restart your browser and start again.
If you are using Chrome
- Click the Lock Icon in the top left, next to the web address:
- Find Camera and set to Allow
- Refresh the page
If you are using Firefox
- Click the lock icon in the top left, next to the web address:
- Click the X next to the Camera settings if it's blocked
- Refresh the page
- Click Allow when prompted
If you are using a PC with Windows
- Go to Start
- Open Settings
- Open Privacy
- Open Camera
- Under Allow apps access to your camera, turn access On

If you are using a Mac
- Click the Apple Icon
- Open System Preferences
- Open Security and Privacy
- Click the Privacy tab
- Select Camera on the left side
- Enable the checkbox next to the browser that you're using
- Restart your browser for changes to take effect and try again
- If you are using a Macbook Air
- Follow the instructions for using a Mac. If this doesn’t work, try using Firefox instead.
